چکیده

Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) comprise a heterogeneous group of epithelial-derived thymic neoplasms with diverse clinical behavior and underlying molecular genetic features. Owing to their rare nature, the classification TETs has only recently begun be fully explored. The advent advanced studies, particularly ability sequence DNA RNA in massively parallel fashion, led an increased understanding underpinnings neoplasia. Thymomas, characterized by alterations, tend have low mutational burdens various copy number abnormalities including characteristic loss chromosomal material region 6q25.2-p25.3, recurrent, specific point mutation GTF2I p.L424H, expression certain microRNAs. carcinomas, contrast, are generally tumor burdens, multiple varied, non-recurrent, somatic mutations. Advances knowledge allow for more precise these tumors, presence alterations aids diagnosis borderline lesions. In future, additional studies will better delineate landscape may one day targeted treatment algorithms. This review aims cover current thus far identified thymomas carcinomas.

Thymoma and thymic carcinoma.

Thymic tumors comprise a heterogeneous group of neoplasms with a wide spectrum of clinical presentations. The evolution of the disease is often unpredictable, ranging from an indolent attitude to the possibility of intra- and extrathoracic spread. From the histological point of view, thymoma and thymic carcinoma are the most frequent subtypes and arise only from thymic epithelial cells. Other h...

Novel Treatments for Thymoma and Thymic Carcinoma

The rarity of thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) creates unique challenges in conducting translational research and developing newer paradigms of treatment (1). Nevertheless, steady progress in genome research, the development of thymic cell lines, and an increase in collaborative efforts between various institutions have helped in fostering an increase in the understanding of the biology of TETs ...

Thymoma and thymic germinal center.

A previous study of 70 cases of thymoma described in 1966 by the author1 reported that definite germinal centers were found in the normal thymic tissue attached to one case of thymoma associated with myasthenia gravis, and that this was very interesting from the point of view of whether thymoma or thymic germinal center was a more important occurrence of a myasthenic condition. Since then routi...

Thymic carcinoid tumor combined with thymoma--neuroendocrine differentiation in thymoma?

A carcinoid tumor of the thymus combined with thymoma in a 62-year-old man is described. The mediastinal tumor had been present for 13 years and was associated with pure red cell aplasia. Carcinoid tumor occupied the central two-thirds of the tumor, consisting of nests and trabeculae of monotonous round cells, which ultrastructurally showed many intracytoplasmic dense-core granules. Typical spi...

Molecular pathology of gastric carcinoma.

Gastric carcinoma (GC) is a biologically heterogeneous disease involving numerous genetic and epigenetic alterations. A very small proportion of GCs can be caused by a specific germ-line mutation of the E-cadherin gene (CDH1). Sporadic GC is developed through multistep processes that begin with Helicobacter pylori-induced atrophic gastritis. Epstein-Barr virus is another infectious cause of GC,...
